Mercer Advisors, Inc. (“Mercer Advisors”), a national wealth management and financial planning firm, today announced the appointment of Kyle Pounder, PhD, as Vice President of Data, a role focused on putting data and AI to work for its more than 460 advisors and over 43,000 clients. Pounder will lead the firm’s core data team, which underpins Aspen, the firm’s fully integrated technology platform, and its broader AI strategy.
The appointment of Pounder continues to deepen the technical leadership that Mercer Advisors has been assembling. Most recently, Cynthia Loh joined as Chief Platform Officer, a new role responsible for the processes, people and platform that anchor the firm’s client and advisor experience. Loh has spent more than two decades building and scaling advice platforms at leading organizations, including Goldman Sachs, Charles Schwab, and Betterment.
Ehsan Lavassani, Founding Engineer and Chief Engineering Officer of Personal Capital, joined in September 2023 and was recently promoted to Head of Artificial Intelligence. Lavassani spearheaded the development of Aspen, the firm’s AI-enabled operating system, whose second-generation launch brought AI capabilities directly into advisor and client workflows. In his new role, he will focus on partnering with client-facing professionals across the firm to accelerate the development and deployment of AI capabilities in their practices. Lavassani and Pounder report to Loh.
“Our clients expect the same boutique experience in every one of our markets, and our advisors want their time and attention on serving clients, not on looking for information,” said Loh. “Kyle knows how to turn complex data into something a team can act on. His work can put the right insight in front of the right client at the right moment, and that’s how we scale keeping our promises to those we serve.”
In addition to architecting the firm’s data infrastructure, Pounder will partner on building data services and analytics that directly support advisory teams in their work with clients. “Data is only valuable when it helps someone do something better for a client. Mercer Advisors takes that seriously,” said Pounder. “The firm has already invested in a strong technology foundation, talented people, and the culture to make data and AI practical. I’m excited to build on that, using data and AI to make information more accessible, simplify complex workflows and give advisors more time to focus on nurturing client relationships and delivering high-touch service.”
Pounder joins Mercer Advisors after five years at Wealth.com, where he was most recently the Chief Technology Officer and supported the firm through a period of significant growth. At Wealth.com, he guided engineering, security, and data teams from the company’s Google Ventures-led Series A and through their Charles Schwab-led Series B funding rounds. An integral part of his work included the building of production-level AI systems and AI-enabled data environments designed to meet strict enterprise standards, including SOC 2 Type 2.
Prior to his time at Wealth.com, Pounder was the sole data scientist on a cross-functional team at Meta that built products to enable the growth and support of creators on Facebook and Instagram. Pounder holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Arizona and a Master of Education from the University of Notre Dame.
“Kyle is yet another example of the talented technology leaders choosing to join Mercer Advisors to build a different kind of wealth management firm, one that combines the strength of a national platform with the personalized service clients expect,” said Daniel Gourvitch, President of Mercer Advisors. “We are committed to making Mercer Advisors a destination where technologists and practitioners can do the most meaningful work of their careers side-by-side, with the scale, data and specialized teams to further enhance how we serve our clients. We are thrilled to welcome a technologist of Kyle’s caliber and to put his deep expertise in data and AI to work delivering on the family office promise we make to our clients.”

2026 Wall Street Journal Buy Side – Best Overall Firm for High-Net-Worth Investors
Buy Side analyzed some of the largest and best-known independent registered investment adviser (RIA) firms and scored those firms based on their fees, advisor credentials, customer support, available services, portfolio construction and account minimum. These factors were weighted based on WSJ reader surveys regarding what they considered most important when choosing an advisor. Prioritized, were firms that have a client base of 50% or more HNWIs according to their most recent Form ADV filing. To be considered a top financial advisor for high-net-worth individuals, a firm has to offer comprehensive wealth management services. A 5-star rating represents top performance relative to the field, rather than a requirement to achieve a theoretical perfect score of 100.
